The Winter Olympics have been hit by another doping scandal three days after the event finished. Spanish figure skater Laura Barquero has failed a doping test after testing positive for the banned steroid clostebol.

This doping news was announced by the International Testing Agency on Tuesday, 22 February, three days after the final events wrapped up in Beijing. Twenty-year-old Barquero and her partner Marco Zandron finished 11th in the pairs competition, which finished on Saturday. The ITA said her positive sample was given after the short program on Friday, 18 February, and the case will be heard by the Anti-Doping Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD), then they will decide Barquero's fate.
