Hammer had insisted that every interaction was voluntary. However, according to current reports, the 'Lone Ranger' actor is having difficulty finding acting work and managing his divorce from TV personality Elizabeth Chambers. In light of the allegations of sexual abuse and cannibalism, Hammer escaped to the Cayman Islands. In July, photos surfaced of the actor at a resort selling timeshares. The actor was the subject of an LAPD inquiry when a woman claimed that Hammer had "violently raped her," but no charges have been brought against him. According to sources close to the actor, the District Attorney won't bring any charges.

The American businessman inherited his grandfather Armand's company, Occidental Petroleum, worth $40 million. Throughout his career, Michael held leadership positions in a number of organizations, including Hammer Productions, the Armand Hammer Foundation, Hammer Galleries, and the Hammer International Foundation.

Armie quarantined with his father, along with stepmother Misty Milward in an apartment on the Cayman islands during the pandemic in 2020. In an interview with British GQ, he said, "It was a really concentrated family time, which is really great with the kids, but it was intense. Handle it well? No. It was a very complicated, intense situation, with big personalities all locked in a little tiny place. It was tough, man. I'd never dealt with anything like that before in my life, so I didn't have the tools."

"It was just this thing that snuck up on everybody," he continued. "I don't think I handled it very well. I think, to be quite frank, I came very close to completely losing my mind. I just felt completely powerless. And I was on an island where the lockdown was so severe that mail couldn't even come in. I felt so intensely trapped, like a wolf who got caught in a snare and wants to chew his own foot off. I was just like, 'I can't do this. Get me out of here.'"

Since his death it has come to light that his late father also lived a troubled life, becoming involved in one of New York City's biggest scandals involving art fraud and allegedly maintaining a sex dungeon inside the Carpinteria headquarters of the Armand Hammer Foundation as per Daily Mail. Additionally, according to insiders, the billionaire had "the mindset of a teenage boy" and a perverted sex drive. These claims paralleled those made about his troubled son, who, if not for his current troubles, would probably inherit his family's fortune.
