GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA: 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life' star Barbara 'Babs' Thore died at 10.32 pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the age of 76. The tragic news was shared by her daughter in a heartbreaking Instagram post. Whitney, 38, wrote while sharing the video, "Rest In Peace, Sweet Mommy. June 22, 1946—December 7, 2022. My mother died last night just as the credits rolled on her favorite movie. Dad, Hunter, and I held her as she took her last breaths." Many of her fans came forward to remember the late actress who also suffered from dementia.
The 76-year-old actress, popularly known for her role as Whitney Way Thore's mom on TLC’s 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life', was suffering from cerebral amyloid angiopathy. As explained by Whitney, the disease is "an untreatable progressive condition caused by proteins in the blood vessels of the brain that can cause dementia, seizures." In Thore's case, the situation progressed for the worse and she suffered brain bleeding (hemorrhagic strokes) as well. Thore's first stroke was in 2017, the second on December 28, 2021, and the final one on November 13, 2022. Her health struggles were extensively shown in ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ and the fans were worried since then. After her passing, heartbroken fans paid tribute and remembered her.
