BAY CITY, MICHIGAN: It was a day to remember for the people of the United States as the nation defeated the mighty Asian football giant Iran, 1-0 in the FIFA World Cup and proceeded to the round of 16 as the second-place team in Group B on Tuesday, November 29. President Joe Biden also couldn't hold his emotions back as after his speech, he delivered the big breaking news sports headline to a Michigan crowd.
The president had just finished his prepared remarks at the SK Siltron plant in Bay City, Michigan, which focused on the economy, gas prices, and foreign investment in chip manufacturing. The 80-year-old was mingling with the guests and was glad-handing with crowd members to the sound of 'Stars and Stripes Forever' when an assistant appeared to deliver the news. The joyful news led Biden to take the stage and announce the development.

"U.S. 1, Iran 0," Biden said after the US team held off Iran after scoring in the first half. "Hey, hey hey! USA. USA!" the president gushed. "That's a big game, man," he continued, grinning. "I spoke to the coach and the players. I said you can do this. They went ahh," Biden said, suggesting the US team had its doubts about taking on Iran, the top-ranked team in the Asia group. "They did it! God love them," Biden said. "Anyway, just thought you might want to hear."
Biden then headed back off the stage to more applause as the photographers traveling with him captured the unusual appearance. The president did not mention anything related to the political turmoil Iran is going through right now during his announcement. Iran has been undergoing repeated protests since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody after being arrested by the 'morality police' who enforce dress and other matters.
The US will try to keep their tournament going on Saturday morning, November 3, against the Netherlands.
'Uncle Joe at his best'
Meanwhile, Twitter users were also ecstatic to see such a cheerful reaction from their president. One user tweeted, "Uncle Joe at his best." Another user tweeted, "Biden's heartfelt message to the grieving Iranian players "Hit the road, Jack. Your Malarkey ends today".
"This is a President we can be proud of. Thank you", wrote one while another tweeted, "God I love that guy." One user wrote, "Seriously that was the ONLY time they chanted USA USA at any Biden event" and another tweeted, "Some big pop energy someone should let him know about the celebrations in Iran that the US won!"
