Carlton Jama Adams: John Jay prof accused of groping, seeking oral sex from student
A senior professor from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York has been accused of sexual misconduct by a female graduate student. The college has been notorious for a series of sexual misconduct allegations and scandals in the recent past. In fact, in 2019, former students Claudia Cojocaru and Naomi Haber alleged in a federal suit that the college and four professors created “a cesspool of sexism, misogyny, sexual harassment and illegal drug use.”
A lawsuit has been allowed by a judge, in which grad student Judith Sandrine Dikambi, now 48, alleged that Associate Professor Carlton Jama Adams, 68, subjected her to groping, unwanted oral sexual contact, harassment, and xenophobic, vulgar, sexist remarks. She was pursuing a Master's Degree at John Jay College while also assisting international students. According to the court documents, Prof Adams misbehaved and harassed Dikambi, often on sexual lines, between 2006 and 2014. She had originally filed the lawsuit in Manhattan Federal Court in 2019.
