Murder of Carl and Vicki Mattson: Suspect Christopher Keeley at large as his criminal past is revealed

Murder suspect on the run for 17 years after confessing to killing boyfriend caught by China's facial recognition system

The jail reports seen by Boston 25 suggest that Keeley was booked on Saturday at 6.05 am. A warrant was issued earlier this week for Keeley for murdering the couple. The Plymouth County District Attorney, Tim Cruz earlier said the couple was found “bludgeoned and stabbed” when police conducted a wellness check at their home Tuesday evening. Also, the dog possibly belonging to the couple was found dead in the house. However, it hasn't been revealed when exactly the couple was murdered.

It was also reported that Keeley had some acquaintances with the couple and that he lived with them. Now the couple’s son Jeffrey Mattson according to the report has confirmed that Keeley had been staying with his parents prior to the murder and that during the run he was using Carl's credit cards. Mass state police which launched BOLO on November 30 had been able to trace Keeley's Jeep but was found unoccupied on December 1. Marshfield Police Chief Phillip Tavares said Keeley, "may have changed his appearance and dyed his hair red."

Keeley's criminal record has also been revealed. From maliciously damaging her grandmother's car in 2013, when he was 18, to possession of stolen weapons and drugs in 2020, he appeared in Quincy District Court in June 2013, when he was 18, for maliciously damaging a motor vehicle in Weymouth, where he was living at the time. He was charged after his 65-year-old grandmother called Weymouth police to report that Keeley "refused to get out of her vehicle and also damaged the car" When police arrived, they found that the rear driver's side window had been smashed and there was broken glass inside the vehicle, NBC Boston reported.

In December 2014, the report said, Keeley was charged with burglary and willful destruction of property in Weymouth. The documents say he argued with his sister and then tried to enter her apartment to get his keys. He continued to bang and kick on the door even after she threw out his keys, and eventually kicked it in to get inside. In October 2015, he was charged with driving on a suspended license in Weymouth. In August 2016, Keeley was charged with unarmed robbery and assault after he and another man allegedly assaulted and robbed a 21-year-old autistic man who was on his way to a friend's house in Weymouth.
