Cynthia Bailey's early life and education

Cynthia Denise Bailey was born in 1967 in Decatur, Alabama, to Barbara and Elizah. Her mother, who worked at a sewing factory, was only 18 when she got pregnant with Cynthia. Her father, Elijah worked at an auto factory. The 'RHOA' alum has been pretty open about her strained relationship with her father. From an early age, Cynthia's striking look goods were noticed by everybody. She has crowned the first Black homecoming queen at her high school. 

Her win led to her being scouted by a talent scout for Wilhelmina Models. She enrolled herself at the University of Alabama in Huntsville while continuing to compete in various local beauty pageants. Her modeling career began to take its shape after her move to Manhattan and signing a five-year modeling contract with Wilhelmina.

Cynthia's modeling and reality television career

Before becoming a household name as the star of 'RHOA', Cynthia enjoyed a pretty successful stint as a supermodel. She considers beating out Naomi Campbell for a role in the film 'Without You I'm Nothing' as her biggest career accomplishment. her favorite modeling job was a Vanity Cover shot by Annie Leibovitz and featuring Iman, Beverly Johnson, Naomi Campbell, and Tyra Banks.  Aside from walking the runway in Paris and Milan, she also appeared on several magazines covers such as Vogue, Elle, Essence, Vanity Fair, Elle, and Glamour. She also appeared in music videos and did guest appearances on tv shows such as 'The Cosby Show'. 

Cynthia got her big break when she joined 'RHOA' in 2010 during the show's season 3. She was roped in due to her friendship with NeNe Leakes and her relationship with nightclub owner Peter Thomas. Thanks to all the drama that she frequently found herself embroiled in, Cynthia quickly became a fan-favorite housewife. Alongside her soaring popularity, Cynthia's bank balance was also steadily growing. By the time she left the show, she was reportedly earning a whopping $300,000 per season!

Cynthia's net worth of $2.5 million can be attributed to her modeling career and her stint on 'RHOA'. The former supermodel appears to be pretty money-savvy as she invested her growing income in various business ventures and real estate to further grow it. In 2011, she opened her modeling school in Atlanta. In 2016, she purchased an Atlanta-area home for $940,000, which she dubbed as "Lake Bailey." She also launched her own wine cellar and event space business in 2019 called Bailey Room Wine Cellar. 

Even though Cynthia may no longer be a housewife on 'RHOA', we doubt her bank balance will take any significant hit, as she continues to appear on various reality shows like 'Celebrity Big Brother', alongside running her businesses.
