Insiders claim that despite Vaughn's representatives' denials, he has also contacted his ex-girlfriend and 'The Break-Up' co-star Jennifer Aniston, 53, for assistance in landing decent roles. "Vince was big when he went out with Jen in 2005 and 2006, but their fortunes have changed dramatically," said a source. "It makes Jen sad to see how far Vince has fallen and she wants to help — so she may be his best hope!" the source added.

The actor hasn't had a successful movie hit in more than ten years. His performance in the moderately successful film 'Freaky' from 2020 has been the sole highlight on his resume for years. Many of his comedic endeavors were complete flops. 'Couples Retreat' from 2009 was his most recent comic hit, but 'The Dilemma' with Kevin James, 'The Watch' with Ben Stiller, 'Delivery Man', and 'The Internship' with Owen Wilson were some of the subsequent box office duds. 

Vaughn made his pitch about a 'Dodgeball' sequel because he reportedly has an optimistic update on the situation. "They’ve always talked about these things forever and I had an idea that was fun and the studio likes it, so we’ll see where it goes," Vaughn told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think Ben (Stiller) is open to doing it, I think he’s in the same boat as me actually which is if it’s a really fun and great idea then that’s fun, but if it’s just something to go do it again then why?" He continued, "You would just want to make sure going into Dodgeball that it feels like a nice continuation and a story that could stand on its own. I think for all of us if it feels right and it’s funny, it would be something to go back to, and if it’s not, it’s just another idea getting kicked around."
