SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: The new Twitter CEO and the world’s richest man, Elon Musk was ruthlessly booed at a Dave Chappelle show on December 11. Chappelle gave a performance at a unique Punchline Comedy Club event in San Francisco and also brought the Tesla CEO on stage at the end of the show. Musk had controversially acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October and then fired hundreds of its employees. It appears that the bulk of the Chase Center audience was unimpressed when they saw him on stage. Several Twitter users posted a video showing Chappelle introducing Musk to mixed applause and raucous boos.

Chappelle told Elon while welcoming him on stage, “Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world.” Musk, who was wearing a Twitter shirt and had what appeared to be a Twitter work badge dangling from his front pocket, was then met with a flurry of loud boos and shouts as he stood by. "Weren't expecting this were you? In times like this, I think we’re in a simulation. Like, how can this be real?" Musk told Chappelle. The comedian replied, "It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience.” Musk had laid off as many as half of the company’s 7,500 employees when he took charge of Twitter last month.
