Eminem is 49 and instead of hanging up his boots, the hip-hop heavyweight is dropping new music every now and then. Weeks after releasing a collaboration with foe turned friend Snoop Dogg titled ‘From The D 2 The LBC’, the ‘Not Afraid’ hitmaker announced a new compilation album of his greatest hits in the form of ‘Curtain Call 2’.

The Grammy-winning rap veteran took to Instagram to share the big news with his close to 40 million followers while revealing the cover art of the same. Social media users, however, were not elated with the album cover as they took to Twitter to speak on the same. Eminem had also recently released a song with CeeLo Green for the biopic ‘Elvis’ called ‘The King and I’.

Eminem gets dragged over ‘Curtain Call 2’ cover

Eminem while announcing his new project on Monday, July 11, captioned the post, “#CURTAINCALL2 DROPS 8/5.” The album cover of his new compilation album features the rapper with devil horns, him standing holding a shovel while digging a grave, a chainsaw, and random digital numbers - all hinting towards his earlier released projects. According to multiple reports, the new album will only contain one unreleased song and the rest of the songs will be from 2009’s ‘Relapse’, 2010’s ‘Recovery’, 2013’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’, 2017’s ‘Revival’, 2018’s ‘Kamikaze’, and 2020’s ‘Music to Be Murdered By’ and ‘Music to Be Murdered By - Side B (Deluxe Edition).’

For the unversed, Eminem had dropped ‘Curtain Call: The Hits’ in 2005 which proved to be a compilation of the rapper’s biggest songs, including ‘The Way I Am’, ‘My Name Is’, ‘Guilty Conscience’ and ‘Without Me’. As of 2017, it’s the longest-running rap album in Billboard 200 history.

‘Whack a** cover to be honest’

Hip-hop lovers rushed to Twitter to slam the cover art of Eminem's ‘Curtain Call 2’. “Ngl, the cover art for Eminem's Curtain Call 2 looks crap”, said one as another posted, “What a letdown. 1 new song. Well not even new. Previously unreleased.” Another chimed in, “I mean this album cover is alright. But a little too much is going on. The first one is simple. Eminem bowing when roses thrown at his feet. How many tracks are you expecting on this one??” Whereas, one user shared, “The original cc cover is still better and more fitting however i still don’t understand why in god’s name is he doing a greatest hits album in the streaming era.”

The next one tweeted, “It’s not really good but it’s also not relevant lol doesn’t matter how good or bad an album cover is, not what anyone is there for”, as another stated, “That cover is the worst thing he has ever done. it looks so unprofessional, he’d have just stood in front of a crowd with a tuxedo again tbh.” One added, “Whack a** cover to be honest.” Meanwhile, an individual posted, “If Kanye had the same cover that Eminem chose for Curtain Call 2 MFS would be on his meat so hard calling it the best they’ve ever seen.” And, one concluded, “Eminem just dropped the worst album cover in all of hip hop / rap existence with Curtain Call 2.”
