"I grabbed the kids because I was so shook," said Banner as reported by WCAX. "And it’s like the police officer wasn’t paying attention." Banner's screams can be heard in the footage, and the bus driver can be heard sounding the horn as a warning. "He almost hit me. One of the children involved in the incident, Za'Kayla Ford, stated, "I froze, but then I realized I had to jump out of the way. 

Denise Ford, the mother of the kids, wasn't present when it happened. However, she claims that the perilous circumstance astounded her, particularly in light of the family's claim that the officer simply drove away without stopping. "I was shocked. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ Anything could have happened. I could have lost four of my kids,” Denise Ford stated. “What if you would have hit my kids? You didn’t stop to say, ‘Hey, is they okay?’ I was traumatized. I was like, ‘Lord, have mercy.’ Like what if?”

She claims that her kids are still in shock, and her 11-year-old hasn't gone to school since the incident because she has discomfort in her neck and leg. In a statement, Coral Springs Police Chief Bradley McKeone announced that the officer operating the car had been identified and had received "formal discipline." The family says they are thankful the kids weren't gravely wounded and that the incident was recorded on film even though they are hopeful the officer will face greater punishment. “Without the video, nothing would have been done. It would have been my word against the police's word,” Denise Ford stated. Since Sunrise Police were not notified of the occurrence, no penalties or infractions are anticipated in the city. It's uncertain if Coral Springs will file any charges, as reported by WCAX.
