BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: Henry Cavill recently announced that he will not be returning to the 'Superman' franchise. 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director and DC Studios’ new co-chairman, James Gunn, is currently writing a new 'Super Man' movie. Gunn is writing story on the basis of the superhero’s younger years.

According to The Guardian, Cavill has played Superman since the 2013 film 'Man of Steel' and last appeared in the role in a brief cameo in 'Black Adam' earlier this year. Fans are disappointed that even though Cavill has been fired, Ezra Miller still gets a chance to be the lead in 'The Flash'

Cavill wrote on his Instagram handle, "I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it's sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn't the easiest, but that's life. The changing of the guard is something that happens."
