Florida highway crash: 1-year-old among 5 dead and several others injured in horrific head-on collision
STATE ROAD 39, FLORIDA: Florida Highway Patrol reported that a Ford SUV carrying three girls and four women nearly collided head-on with a Nissan pick-up truck, killing five individuals, two of whom were young children. Identities of the ones involved in the fatal crash are yet to be revealed by the authorities.
The accident happened when a Ford Explorer, being driven by a 20-year-old woman and carrying five female passengers, aged 1, 5, 12, 22, and 31, crossed the center line of a two-lane highway headed north and struck a Nissan Frontier traveling the other way. The Ford's driver, the one-year-old, the 12-year-old were among five who were killed in the collision. Three more passengers in the automobile suffered significant injuries. The Nissan's 53-year-old driver was also killed and his passenger suffered serious injuries. An 18-wheeler then struck the Nissan but the driver escaped unharmed. The crash took place just before 10 pm on Sunday, October 30, at the intersection of SR-39 and Bruton Road in the suburbs of Tampa, just north of Plant City.
