'Gossip Girl' spin-off set 8 years later greenlit by HBO Max for 10 episodes

Warner Media's new streaming site HBO Max has greenlit a 10-episode 'Gossip Girl' spin-off series, which is set eight years after Dan Humphrey was revealed as the administrator of the Gossip Girl website in the finale of the original show. The original show was based on the teenagers at the upper-east side of Manhattan whose lives were the talking point of an anonymously run website called 'Gossip Girl'.

The show centred on the lives of Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald and Dan Humphrey. The trials and tribulations of their lives from the perspective of an outsider was narrated by actor Kristen Bell.

Initially, there were reports of a 'Gossip Girl' reunion being planned, however, no official announcements about the same were made. The CW or HBO Max has also not confirmed whether any of the cast members of the original show will be part of this series.

The show's original cast included Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen among others. Book series producer Alloy Entertainment and Fake Empire, along with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios are onboard to the produce the spin-off after their work on the original show.
