Gunna denied bail for the second time in RICO case: ‘They got him on some silly a** charges'

Hashtags like ‘#FreeGunna’ and ‘FreeWunna’ secured one of the top spots on Twitter on Thursday, July 7 after the rapper was denied bail for the second time in a RICO case. The ‘Pushin P’ hitmaker is expected to remain behind the bars until the January 2023 trial date. For the unversed, Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, was first denied bail on May 23 by a Fulton County judge.
 
According to the website, 11 alive, the attorneys of Gunna tried convincing the judge there was nothing indicating that the 29-year-old rapper had to remain in jail but the judge argued that the hip-hop artist posed a threat and he could intimidate potential witnesses. Gunna is facing one count of conspiracy to violate RICO.

Gunna denied bail for the second time

Gunna was charged with RICO with fellow rapper Young Thug along with two dozen other people. Gunna’s lawyers had earlier said that they were disappointed with the judge’s decision. Speaking of the latest, the bond denial came a day after prosecutors in the case alleged that Young Thug and his YSL associates made “numerous threats to kill or harm witnesses”, as reported by the New York Times.

In June 2022, Gunna shared an open letter from behind the bars saying, “The picture that is being painted of me is ugly and untrue. My fans know I love to celebrate life, I love my family, I love travel, I love music, I love my fans. I have all faith that God will grant me justice for the purity in my heart and the innocence of my actions”, as reported by Complex.
 
Speaking of Young Thug, he was charged in a 56-count indictment on May 9. Young Thug’s next trial at the court is expected to be on January 9, 2023, as announced by the judge. Apart from Young Thug, rappers like Gunna, Yak Gotti, YSL Duke, and others were also named in a conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participate in criminal street gang activity.

He should be free right now honestly.” Whereas, one posted, “Damn they still dubbing Gunna bail.” One fan added, “Damn shame about Gunna though. Thought he would of been out on bail but that DA is a prick” as, another concluded, “A bit f**ked up gunna was denied bail.”
