How much are Harry and Meghan paid for Netflix documentary?

The royal couple signed the deal with Netflix in September 2020, soon after they stepped down as the working member of the royal family. According to The Guardian’s report, Netflix Disney+ and Apple TV+ were in the bidding game to make the documentary with Harry and Meghan. There have been theories that Netflix finally bagged the opportunity and it was worth millions. There has been talking in the town that Sussex royals signed the deal with the streaming giant via Archwell productions studio worth a reported amount of $100 million.

However, the claim of Harry and Meghan being paid $100 million was claimed to not be true by royal commentator Neil Sean. “There’s speculation they’ve paid $100 million. Trust me, Netflix are not that stupid,” said Sean to ExpressExpress. Furthermore, the royal commentator said that the royal couple has undoubtedly been paid some amount in advance for the docuseries. However, the rest depends on whether “we watch it, download it, stream it, or whatever we do.”

Elle reports that Netflix’s “$100 million deal” isn’t the whole picture. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were required to “produce ideas, concepts, and film pilots” in the deal. Indeed, a “breakdown of fees for all aspects of the making of the show was necessary.” Surely, the royal couple has been handed multi-million before the release, but the reports say that the whole amount has not yet been delivered.

‘Harry & Meghan’ is a six-part docuseries that will include interviews of the couple, the press, and several other people who have been close to the royal family in some or the other way. When asked in the trailer why did they want to make the documentary, Meghan said, “When the stakes are high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear the story from us?” Under Archwell Productions, the royal couple has planned to “create content that informs but also gives hope.” Therefore, in the deal with Netflix, Harry and Meghan are destined to make a plethora of original documentaries, movies, series, and children's programs as well.

Netflix’s ‘Harry & Meghan’ will release on Netflix on December 8. The six-part first volume will be followed by volume II scheduled to release on December 15, including three episodes.
