MOSCOW, IDAHO: As the investigation into the University of Idaho students' murder has been going on for more than a month, netizens have started theorizing the possibility of someone hiring a killer to carry out the Idaho quadruple homicide. Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found stabbed to death in their rental home, close to the university on November 13. Now, a Reddit user has asked, “By now they've surely gone over everyone who might have had a reason to feel anger towards one of the victims. But even if they all had alibis, what if one of them hired someone else to do the murder for them?”
Several other Reddit users also pitched in as another added, “Anything is possible. Why couldn't they? It is not likely at all but it is possible . Like every imaginable scenario is possible.” “It could be the case,” yet another user noted. However, not everyone was on board with the random and unproven theory as one person remarked, “I think that is reaching pretty far. I still maintain it is a local guy, maybe a college kid or recent former student that hangs out at their parties. They knew how to enter the house and what code to enter to open the keypad doors. Let's say doors were not locked. That broadens it out for sure, but the odds of it being a random serial killer are really like lotto odds in my opinion.”

“I highly doubt it. LE said from the beginning that this was a “Crime of passion”. If you are passionate about something, then you are hands on, thought out, methodical and sometimes messy,” another added. Someone wrote, “While anything is possible, I don't think this is plausible. It would be almost impossible for someone to find a "contract killer" who would be willing to target 4 victims so brutally, using a knife, and to do this act in a house in such a location with 2 survivors nearby. In almost every single contract killing the perpetrator is paid to murder one victim. They almost always use a gun, and they do it in a location where there are no or few witnesses.”
“If youre going to hire someone to do that, would you hire someone whose weapon of choice was a knife? Organized crime hits are not executed in a way to get national attention, so the answer is no. Organized crime would not leave any survivors,” yet another user remarked. Meanwhile, as the debate continues between the internet users, the tragic case has remained a mystery till now, and both the police and the FBI have so far failed to crack the case. Authorities are also appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information about the crime or a tip or a suspicious person in the area is asked to call 208-883-7180 or email tipline@ci.moscow.id.us.
