Idaho murders: Police 'grateful' for food deliveries by university students and pizza place worker

Now, a community member has set up a fundraiser on spotfund.com and invited donations to help fund meals for the officers who are hard at work. "The Moscow, Idaho police and other agencies are working tirelessly to solve the murders of the four students," the fundraiser read. "Though it's not going to change their lives, we will order 16 XL pizzas to be delivered to the 50 of them there on any given day. Sometimes a small gesture of support can go a long way to these traumatized, tired, and dedicated workers." The organizer said police officers were very grateful for those who contributed to the meals, according to Fox News.

The murdered students were reportedly found on the second and third floor of the residence, while two roommates living on the ground floor — Bethany Funke and Dylan Mortensen — were spared. Authorities are trying to determine why they were spared and whether they slept through the attacks. Investigators said that each of the victims was stabbed multiple times and that the attacker used a "fixed-blade knife" to carry out the bloodbath. However, police are yet to identify a suspect as of Tuesday night, November 29.

While authorities are trying to find out who is responsible, they have ruled out a number of potential suspects -- including Goncalves’ ex-boyfriend Jack DeCoeur, the man seen behind Goncalves and Mogen at the food truck, the person who drove the girls home, surviving roommates Mortensen and Funke, as well as the friends called to the house by the surviving roommates on the morning of November 13. While law enforcement officials believe the attack was "targeted," they have asked the Moscow community to remain vigilant. Meanwhile, University of Idaho administrators have ramped up security around campus for the remainder of the semester.

Despite having to comb through heaps of evidence and tips, the authorities have faced backlash for the lack of developments in the case. They also took heat for communicating inconsistent information to the public, initially saying they did not believe "there is an ongoing community risk," only to walk back that statement a couple of days later. Police also don't know if the killer(s) fled or is hiding in plain sight, as per the New York Post.
