MIAMI, FLORIDA: Republican Sen Marco Rubio won re-election in Florida, defeating Democratic Rep Val Demings. Rubio secured his third term amid a statewide Democratic collapse and is reportedly the first Florida Republican to win three terms in the Senate. He bagged over 4.1 million votes or 57%. Demings, on the other hand, had less than 3 million, or 41%.

Rubio is Florida’s longest-serving Hispanic statewide elected official. “The renaissance of Republican Latinos began in many ways with Marco Rubio,” said Susie Wiles, a top political adviser to former President Donald Trump, according to NBC News. Wiles managed the come-from-behind victory campaigns for governor by Rick Scott back in 2010, and also Republican Gov Ron DeSantis in 2018.
