James Gunn celebrates first day at DC Studios with 'Superman' comic, fans say DC's future is in 'good hands'
When Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said that the hierarchy of power in DC Universe is about to change, he was not kidding, and having James Gunn as the new boss is one of the few steps that have been taken to take the franchise in a new direction. A few days after it was announced that the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ director will be heading the DC Studios, along with Peter Safran, Gunn seems to have started his first day at the job on a good note.
The filmmaker shared a picture to celebrate his first day as one of the bosses and used a scene from one of the ‘Superman’ comics which saw the Man of Steel using his typewriter, remarking “Got to restrain myself…. Or I may absent-mindedly punch his typewriter into twisted wreckage!” On the other hand, Gunn captioned the photo as, “First day, new job.”

Gunn has been a huge fan of comics from a very young age and gave some of the most extraordinary movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Last year, the filmmaker took everyone by storm after directing DC’s ‘The Suicide Squad’ and garnered universal acclaim for a violent yet heart-warming comic-book movie. That’s one of the reasons why the Warner Bros. Discovery management decided to have him overlook the creative side of the DC movies, TV shows, and animated projects.
Fans are really excited to see Gunn leading the DC Studios and the recent photo posted by the filmmaker made everyone curious about how he’ll be leading the franchise in a new direction. One of the fans said, “Welcome James! We believe in you. A lot of faith and confidence in the future of the DCU.” Another social media user wrote, “The Future is in your hands! I believe the DCU is prepared to evolve into something bigger.” Another fan wrote, "The future of DC is in good hands."

“All the best. I, a DC fan, have very high expectations from you. Please bring this universe on track. I would like to see a connected DC universe where all the characters interact with each other, just like Marvel films,” tweeted another user.

Meanwhile, there were many who started giving suggestions as to which project they would love to see Gunn rooting for. From releasing the Ayer Cut to bringing back Justice League, fans had a lot of suggestions and requests for the new boss.
“The Ayer cut needs to see the light of day #ReleaseTheAyerCut,” wrote one user. “Good luck with everything that comes ahead. A suggestion, without further ado, from a fan: Omega Men,” tweeted another fan. “Bring us Justice League in 2025,” said another social media user.

Another person who is really looking forward to working with Gunn is none other than Henry Cavill. While talking to IGN, the ‘Man of Steel’ star noted that while he hasn’t met the director, he’s really excited to have “long conversations” about movies and other things as well. He said, “I'm looking very forward to meeting him. He's clearly a very, very talented man, and I cannot wait to sit down and have long, long conversations with him. I'm very excited about him being there and very excited about any future opportunities we can work together.”
Gunn and Safran began their new jobs as co-CEOs of DC Studios on Tuesday, November 1, and fans cannot wait to see what the future holds for DC in the coming months.
