Internet reacts as Jan 6 cops snub Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy at Congressional Gold Medal ceremony
WASHINGTON, DC: Law enforcement officers, who defended the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, from the brutal attack by supporters of then-president Donald Trump and their families refused to shake the hands of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) while accepting Congressional Gold Medal award at Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Footages showed recipients shaking hands with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) but not McConnell and McCarthy.
Commenting on it, Gladys Sicknick, mother of fallen officer Brian Sicknick, said, "They’re just two-faced. I’m just tired of them standing there and saying how wonderful the Capitol police is and then they turn around and … go down to Mar-a-Lago and kiss his [Trump] ring and come back and stand here and sit with – it just, it just hurts,” according to CNN. Internet too was quick to react after videos of the event started making the rounds. One social media user said, "This is the perfect example of 'actions speak louder than words.'"
