WASHINGTON, DC: Joe Biden, the oldest president in US history, turned 80 last month and has "vented to allies" about how much his age is being discussed in the media as he prepares to run for president of the country for a second time in 2024.
According to Politico, an angry Biden told one of his acquaintances earlier this year, "You think I don't know how f-ing old I am?" The current president said he wants to run for another four years in office, but has delayed a final decision until early next year. That means he would be 86 years old when he leaves office if he serves a full second term. "I just hope and pray that when I am in my 80s, I still have that kind of energy," Rep Mike Levin (D-Calif) told Politico when asked about the perception of reelecting an aging president. Biden's age and health are major concerns for most voters, according to polls.

An October survey found that 64 per cent of Americans, including 50 per cent of Democrats, said they were “concerned” about Biden’s mental health after a terrible event when he tried to recognize Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) during an event, forgetting she had died in a car accident weeks earlier. Biden himself acknowledged in the same month during an interview with MSNBC that his age is a“legitimate” issue. “I think it’s a legitimate thing to be concerned about anyone’s age, including mine,” Biden said in an interview with MSNBC. “And I think the best way to make the judgment is to watch me. Am I slowing up? Do I have the same pace?” Biden suggested that he actually felt closer to 50 years old than 80 in that interview.
Former president Donald Trump is the only other candidate till now to officially launch a 2024 White House bid. According to a USA Today/Suffolk University survey released Tuesday, December 13, Trump, 76, lags behind Biden by 47 per cent to 40 per cent in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. The same poll found Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis topping Biden 47 per cent to 43 per cent in a hypothetical 2024 presidential race.
Twitter users also reacted to Joe Biden's profanity laced tirade over his age. A Twitter user opined, "Biden may go down in history as one of the best to hold the presidency. He’s doing it in maybe the most polarizing political environment of the modern age. Just let that sink in for a second." One user tweeted, "Age is just a number. Joe Biden is an 80 year-old man...and yet he is more open-minded, more progressive, more LGBTQ-friendly than any Republican half his age. And that's just one reason why he keeps winning and they keep losing." Another tweeted, "I think his age will have a lot to do with his decision to run or not. I'm hoping that Orange Satan gets indicted and/or gets locked up, then Joe Biden will decide not to run in 2024. Biden is wise enough to walk away and not desperate to hold onto power."
"Hunter Biden had a tragic life. Losing his mom & sister, while experiencing a horrific car accident at a young age. Losing his brother & best friend to cancer. Struggling with addiction like so many. Finally in recovery. And republicans are determined to drive him off a cliff", tweeted one user while another said, "Sounds like the beginning of a Martin Scorsese film about an Irish tough guy working his way from the top of the rackets to the bottom with the help of his best friend and right hand man, Micky "the bologna sandwich" macscheister".
One tweeted, "I'm not as concerned with his age as I am with his integrity. He has ZERO integrity" and another wrote, "The Republicans were formerly known as the party of old white guys, now not so much."
