NANTUCKET, MASSACHUSETTS: President Joe Biden called the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 24, to express his gratitude to first responders, paving away for some awkward television for parade fans. President Biden, 80, and first lady Jill Biden, 71, made a call from the private equity billionaire David Rubenstein's island home in Massachusetts.

NBC's Dylan Dryer, who was covering the procession, answered the call. For around 30 seconds, it seemed as though she was unable to hear the couple, which caused a long and awkward silence at the beginning of the call that was shown on television. Dreyer said, "I'm not one to take a phone call during TV, but I think I should answer this one." The reporter answered the phone and said, "Hello, Mr. President?" But even after a few seconds of silence and commotion, nobody answered and Jill Biden could be dimly heard in the background.
