The official Instagram account of the royals shared a festive portrait, in which the princess, 40, is seen in a shimmering red sequin gown worth $562 by British brand ‘Needle & Thread’ as she poses in front of an elegant Christmas tree lit with fairy lights and golden and red bows placed in a decorated room. Kate reportedly had donned the apparel previously during the UK-Africa Investment Summit at Buckingham Palace in January 2020. The gown features a cinched bodice along with long sheer sleeves with floral appliques and small ruffles along the neckline and shoulders. She paired the look with a pair of ornate earrings while wearing her hair in loose soft waves. The royal account also shared a behind-the-scenes photo of Kate which showed her staring directly into the camera as she filmed a segment for the televised service. 

"Join us this Christmas Eve for a very special service at Westminster Abbey, full of festive carols and beautiful performances, as we celebrate what makes this the most wonderful time of year," Kate says in the promo, released by ITV.

The service organized by Kate includes carols hummed by the abbey's world-renowned choir and several musical renditions and readings performed by special guests from across the United Kingdom. The concert will reportedly recognize the selfless efforts of communities throughout the UK, highlighting the importance of coming together to help one another. The carol service will be attended by several other royal family members along with community volunteers, frontline workers, military personnel, and more to “celebrate the joy that human connection can bring,” stated Buckingham Palace in a release.
