'Deranged bag lady': Kathy Griffin slammed for attacking Elon Musk from late mom Maggie Griffin's account
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Kathy Griffin was banned from her Twitter account on November 6 for impersonating Elon Musk, who wrote, "Actually, she was suspended for impersonating a comedian." To which, Griffin, who made her way to the platform again on November 7 via her late mother’s Twitter account, wrote, “I mean… you stole that joke, you a****le. People have been posting that joke for hours, you hack. Look, please do a better job running this company. It used to mean something. This is KG [Kathy Griffin] btw.” However, the exchange of tweets under her mother Maggie Griffin’s name, who died in 2020, didn't go well with people who slammed Griffin and called the act "gross."
The whole drama started when Griffin, 62, changed her profile photo to Musk’s photo and also changed her user name to Elon Musk, even though her handle remained @kathygriffin, on her blue checkmark account which goes against the company policy as impersonation. Following this, Musk, who bought Twitter on October 27, tweeted, "Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended." Shortly after her suspension, the hashtag "Free Kathy" was tweeted under her late mother's Twitter account, which hadn’t been active since 2019, as per Deadline. Griffin then replied to Musk's tweet, “I’m back from the grave to say… #FreeKathy #TipIt.”
