Kevin Harvick ends 65-race winless drought, wins Cup race at Michigan as daughter Piper steals show

BROOKLYN, MICHIGAN: Kevin Harvick won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway on August 7, putting an end to two years of 65-race winless drought. Harvick's last win was on September 19, 2020 at Bristol Motor Speedway. However, it was Harvick's daughter, Piper, who celebrated her father's win by taking the checkered flag on the victory lane who stole the show.

According to NASCAR wire service, Harvick took the lead and pulled away after a restart on lap 166 of 200 at Michigan International Speedway. He won the FireKeepeers Casino 400 by 2.903 seconds over pole winner Bubba Wallace and overtook Martin Truex Jr in the playoff NASCAR Cup Series finishes. Wallace, who won the pole for the first time in his career, took second, finishing in the top 10 for his career-best fourth straight race. Denny Hamlin, who won Stage 2, took third followed by Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney, as per Detroit Free Press.
