Wells was charged with felony mayhem and lodged in the Hancock County prison, where he self-funded the necessary 10% of a $50,000 bond and was released an hour later, according to WXXV.

If found guilty of the felony, which state law defines as a premeditated "crime committed with the intent to kill in which the suspect mutilates, disfigures, disables, or destroys someone's tongue, eye, lip, nose, limb, or another body part," Wells could spend up to seven years in prison, according to the Biloxi Sun Herald.

A similar game night event took an unusual turn when a fight between a son named John Armstrong and his stepfather broke out. On Saturday, November 26, 2022, a family from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was playing Monopoly when things took a violent turn and led to an assault charge.

Tulsa Police Department stated, "After knocking over the Monopoly board and turning over furniture, another family member told Armstrong and his stepfather to take the fight outside," according to Cleveland19. The two moved outside, where Armstrong, according to authorities, pulled out a gun and pursued his stepfather and stepsister down the street while holding them at gunpoint.

Armstrong allegedly fired a shot at the stepsister and her father while chasing them down the street, according to the stepsister, who then contacted 911. Officers arrested Armstrong when they arrived. Additionally, they discovered Monopoly money and game pieces all throughout the living room. Armstrong is accused of assault with a deadly weapon.
