Brown was reportedly not present with the team while it practiced on Wednesday morning. The wide receiver, 25, was put on the non-football injury list last week to begin training camp. He is reportedly recovering from a hamstring injury. According to head coach Kliff Kingsbury, it was a kind of precautionary measure before the team pulled Brown off the NFI list on Tuesday, August 2. “We’re just easing him back in. We’re going to start him with the walk-throughs … I’m guessing Monday full-go if everything stays on course,” Kingsbury said on Tuesday.

Brown recorded a career-high 1,008 yards with the Baltimore Ravens in 2021, and also added six touchdowns. He and the 100th overall pick owned by Baltimore were traded to the Cardinals on the first night of the NFL Draft, for Arizona’s first-round pick. 

Brown's arrest comes days after Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was suspended by the NFL for the first six games of the 2022 season. Hopkins was accused of violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Hopkins said in a statement that he is still looking into what may have caused a positive result in a November sample. 

“In my 10-year NFL career, I have never tested positive for using performance-enhancing drugs,” Hopkins reportedly said. “To learn that my November test came back with trace elements of a banned substance, I was confused and shocked. I am very mindful of what I put in my body and have always taken a holistic approach, so I am working with my team to investigate how this could’ve happened. But even as careful as I have been, clearly I wasn’t careful enough. For that, I apologize to Cardinals fans, my teammates, and the entire Cardinals organization. I never want to let my team down. “I fully intend to get to the bottom of this. As soon as I have more information I will share it.” Hopkins is eligible to participate in preseason games and practice, and can also return to the team for its Week 7 game.
