'Mayor of Kingstown' Episode 8 Fan Review: Twists make viewers hail 'beautifully bleak' show
Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky in 'Mayor of Kingstown' (Paramount+)

In Episode 8 of 'Mayor of Kingstown', we see one of the darkest episodes in the series. With planned stabbing of police officers behind prison doors, to Iris being continuously drugged and used as an object to even being sold for a couple of thousand bucks, this episode has to be, by far, the most disturbing and shocking 45 minutes, so brace yourselves.

Having said that, Jeremy Renner (as Mike McLusky), and Emma Laird (as Iris) are the two main characters in the spotlight. McLusky hunts down the gang that takes advantage of Iris and takes her under his wing, providing reassurance, shelter and comfort. It's beyond morbid to see how the underworld and prison politics can take a toll on someone as fragile as Iris, especially given the fact that being a woman she almost has no voice to speak up anywhere in this bleak world.
