Megan Thee Stallion was shot as she was jealous of Kylie Jenner, Tory Lanez's attorneys claim

Explaining his theory, Mgdesyan urged the jury to "keep an open mind" about "who got out of the car, how the fight started and who shot the gun," reported Daily Mail. After Kylie asked Megan to leave her pool party, Lanez, not wanting to leave and stay back with Kylie, decided to leave with Megan and the two left together in his black SUV. In the car, Megan and Harris, who was also in the car, started arguing with Lanez. Mgdesyan revealed that Lanez and Harris had a romantic relationship and Megan "went behind her back and started sleeping with him." The two women started to bicker and reportedly got into a fistfight.

Mgdesyan stated the fight was witnessed by a local resident who afterward saw a woman holding a gun. However, Megan denied being in a romantic relationship with lanez and shot down rumors that she had been upset at Lanez's alleged interest in Kylie. Prosecutors argued that Lanez "shot five rounds at Megan with a semi-automatic firearm." Deputy District Attorney Alex Bott, told the jury, "As a result, the victim sustained gunshot wounds to both feet." Bott also revealed a text that Harris sent to Megan’s security guard saying, "Help. Tory shot Meg. 911." After the police were alerted, they tailgated the SUV.

A gun was found inside the car and it was in the "slide-lock" position, meaning at least a single round in the gun had been fired, Bott reportedly said, adding, "The gun was still warm to the touch." Lanez tested positive for the gun residue, along with four others whose DNA "could not be eliminated." Within five hours of the shooting, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, called Harris from jail and sent a text to Megan apologizing and claiming he was drunk at the time of the shooting, Bott reportedly told the jury, adding that the shooting could have had "potentially deadly" results and "being drunk is no excuse."

However, Lanez’s attorney, Mgdesyan, suggested that it was Harris who fired the gun and gunshot residue was found on his client because "he was trying to stop her from shooting." The defense team also claimed that Lanez was apologizing for cheating on them and not the shooting. "He was apologizing for cheating on them (Megan and Harris), for having a sexual relationship with both of them," he reportedly said. When LAPD Detective William Acosta was called to testify that he monitored Lanez's phone call to Harris from jail, he admitted under cross-examination that while Lanez "kept apologizing," there was no mention of him shooting a gun. "I do not know why he was apologizing," he told the jury.

The 30-year-old rapper has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He could spend up to 12 years in prison if convicted. Recently, the LA District Attorney's office added a third felony charge, discharging a firearm with gross negligence - which carries an additional six-year jail term, plus possible deportation for the Canadian-born musician, which he has denied too.
