Meghan and Harry deny lack of 'privacy' caused Megxit amid backlash for sharing intimate footage in Netflix docu

The couple has given access to the documentary makers over 15 hours of personal footage and unseen pictures of their children Archie and Lilibet as well. Liz Garbus, director of the documentary confirmed that the videos were recorded in the early months of 2020. She also calls the six-episode series a 'collaboration' with the couple, reports the Daily Mail. Six months after their 'Megxit,' the estimated $100 million deal with Netflix was announced for the release of their bombshell docu-series.

On December 8, the couple's press secretary conveyed on their behalf that "Their statement announcing their decision to step back mentions nothing of privacy and reiterates their desire to continue their roles and public duties. Any suggestion otherwise speaks to a key point of this series.”

The spokesperson further added "They are choosing to share their story, on their terms, and yet the tabloid media has created an entirely untrue narrative that permeates press coverage and public opinion. The facts are right in front of them,” according to Page Six.

The statement was made following the couple's sharing of shreds of their intimate moments and private life in the documentary. On the day of their exit from life in the UK, Harry filmed a speech that is included at the beginning of the series.

Harry and Meghan are slammed by the public as even in the documentary, they criticize the media for constantly running behind them and their private lives. 

Though the couple has denied that it is not 'privacy' as the issue behind their exit, Page Six reports that in an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by Harry and Meghan a few months after their exit from the family, it read “At the beginning of this year, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (the ‘Plaintiffs’), announced their intention to reside, at least part-time, in North America, in an attempt to escape the incessant UK tabloid fabrications.”

In yet another controversial interview from 2021, Meghan tells Oprah Winfrey "I think everyone has a basic right to privacy. Basic. We're not talking about anything that anybody else wouldn't expect.", as per the Daily Mail report.

The news outlet also reported that Harry and Meghan began filming their lives back in March 2020 and continued to shoot themselves and gave interviews until a few weeks before the Queen's death in August 2022.
