The statement alongside the pic of Markle read, "Today is Election Day in the U.S.! Time to get out and vote!" The message also noted that people can text "ARCHEWELL to 26797 to find your polling location and make sure you are ready to vote."

The statement further provided other information regarding voting, such as confirming polling places and reviewing what's on your ballot. They also gave links to nonpartisan websites such as I am a voter and BallotReady for further Election Day information.

Meghan Markle's public service announcement is one of the few times a member of the royal family has voted in an election. According to PEOPLE, Markle was the first modern royal to vote in a US presidential election in 2020. Meghan "is voting in this election," a source informed the tabloid at the time but did not say whether she voted early or in person in California, where she lives with Prince Harry and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. Although senior members of the royal family have the right to vote, they are supposed to remain politically neutral.

Due to her Archwell foundation, Meghan has been recently receiving a lot of eclectic views from the netizens on social media. She has recently been criticized for smashing the royal family rules when asked to remain politically neutral. 

A Twitter account wrote, "STRIP THEIR TITLES NOW!! This is WILDLY inappropriate! Meghan Markle can vote, but this campaigning to get people to vote is not appropriate for a royal. Strip that Duchess of Sussex title NOW, Charles. She's ignorant and arrogant about her royal status, and it reflects on you."

On the other side, many netizens lauded her valuable efforts towards the nation and tweeted, "U.S. #ElectionDay is here! Harry and Meghan's Archewell Foundation has created a voters' checklist and opened a text service to help people find their polling locations."

Another user tweeted, "Meghan Markle is so beautiful. Love that she's happy now."  

Following their departure as members of the royal family, Markle and Harry have become more vocal about various issues, including politics. According to PEOPLE, the Duchess of Sussex was the first modern member of the royal family to vote in a US presidential election. That same year, Markle spoke about the significance of voting in an ABC News program for the annual Time100 issue. She stated, "'This is the most important election of our lifetime,' we are told every four years. But not this one. When we vote, we put our principles into action and make our voices heard."
