'Stranger Things' Season 4 was released in two volumes earlier this year, and the impressive viewership saw a few more tens of millions of hours of views added to its tally.  The '80s period sci-fi horror drama now stands tall with total views of 1.325 billion hours in the first 28 days of its release and is considered the most viewed Netflix English-language series, vaulting over the second most popular English series on Netflix, 'Bridgerton' Season 2 (656 million views).

'Squid Game' which was released on September 17, 2021, is still holding the top rung of the ladder. After 'Stranger Things' left the last season on a cliffhanger and millions of fans from all over the world were religiously waiting to binge-watch Season 4. Once it was released it became clear that 'Squid Game's record of 1.650 billion hours viewed in the first 28 days was unbeatable, at least as of now, it has been. But Season 4 came closest than anyone had been able to. It was within 298 million hours of the tally for the Korean drama, 'Squid Game', created by Hwang Dong-hyuk for Netflix.
