Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trolled after she wins NYC reelection, Internet asks 'who keeps voting for her'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, a Democratic Socialist, was re-elected on Tuesday, November 8 after claiming in an interview that crime is down in the city even though the city's own records show an increase in offenses of over 30%, reported Daily Mail. In the aftermath of her re-election, social media users have slammed the congresswoman's victorious feat when she won for the third time.
On election day, Ocasio-Cortez discussed the crime issue on the radio program ‘The Breakfast Club.’ She had earlier campaigned alongside former New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Ocasio-Cortez said, “A lot of people think that crime is up, when we actually see that shootings are down, when we see that huge indicators on the most violent crime in New York City is down.” The left-wing congresswoman who won re-election to a third term with ease in her mostly liberal district, then reportedly blasted Mayor Eric Adams and Hochul for stationing additional police officers on train platforms, blaming them for an increase in violence on the MTA. “Subway crime is up, but let's also note that subway crime is up after they committed so many more officers to the subway system. So that also tells us from a policy perspective, adding more cops to the subway isn't solving this problem," she said.
