JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA: Former UFC Knights footballer Otis Anderson Jr was shot in his Florida home in the night on November 29. Channel 4 News reported a man and a woman were shot at 9:30 pm in Jacksonville and the victims were later identified as the running back and his mother Denise. Investigators say the shooting resulted from a domestic incident and Anderson Jr, 23, succumbed to his injuries while Denise's condition remains critical.
The RB's fans are shaken by the news and they took to Twitter to pay tribute to the slain player. UCF's Director of Broadcasting Mark Daniels shared a photo of the team's home field and tweeted, "A bright sun shines over a special place that makes one pause and think of the many memories that a new angel gave us. We pray and mourn a loss of a life taken far too soon…" Eric Burris tweeted, "My heart hurts for Otis Anderson's friends and family. And for our Knight nation, mourning a senseless tragedy..." A devastated fan tweeted, "Wtf?!?!!! I can’t even believe what I just read. All of my thoughts and prayers with his mother and RIP Otis. You will be missed." Another Twitter user who claimed to be his classmate wrote, "I was lucky enough to sit next to Otis in my freshman year Psych class and he was so down to earth and loved his fans as much as they loved him, such a tragic passing but he will always be a UCF legend #RIP." WWE star Parker Boudreaux tweeted, "Love you Juice man… Rest In Peace bro." In related news, Utah footballer Aaron Lowe was fatally shot on September 26 in Salt Lake City. Marshall University's linebacker Jaquan Yulee died on July 13 this year. Former Chorley and Bury FC player James Dean's body was found on May 9, four days after he went missing.
