"God got me he been had me," Clark tweeted on November 2, a day after the shooting. And then, on November 3, he posted, "God don't make mistakes". 

The promoter posted two more tweets about a week later. "Been hurt so many times it's hard for me to feel love," Clark wrote on November 9. "I ain't perfect, I'm solid tho," he wrote in another post that day.

That said, sources close to Clark — who reportedly owns the Houston-based strip club The Flame HTX — believes the club owner was "framed" because he's "not the type" to have violent outbursts. "I know him. He's not like that. I honestly feel like they got the wrong guy," an insider close to the suspect told The Daily Beast. "He doesn't get mad or hostile. He's very nice and thoughtful. That's all I have to say. I feel he is being framed."

Jmali, a rapper close to Clark, also insisted that the alleged suspect did not have a violent past. "You could see by the reactions of everyone that we're shocked because that's not the type of person [Clark] is," Jmali said of Clark, "He was about business, not violence." The rapper added, "Pat was similar to Takeoff in that he was quiet and just went about his business. That's why this is so surprising to everyone here."

Takeoff, whose birth name was Kirsnick Khari Ball, was an innocent bystander when bullets were fired outside 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley in the early hours of November 1. The rapper and his bandmate, Quavo, were at a private party with around 40 other individuals just before the shooting at 2.30 am. TakeOff was struck and killed right outside the bowling alley's entrance. According to authorities, two more persons were shot, a 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female. They drove to hospitals since their injuries were not life-threatening.

HPD Chief Troy Finner did not provide many facts about the case or what led investigators to suspect Clark as the gunman during a news conference Friday, December 2, but he did say Takeoff was an innocent bystander who was shot when a dice game got violent. "Certainly, wrong place, wrong time," Finner remarked. Some reports suggest that Clark was seen holding a wine bottle in one hand and a gun in the other when the shots were fired and he was seen leaving in his car shortly after. Some law enforcement sources say prosecutors are relying heavily on video evidence to nail the suspect and get him to plead guilty, which he hasn't thus far.

Prosecutors in court documents filed claimed that Patrick Xavier Clark applied for an expedited passport right after Takeoff's murder. When he was arrested, he had received the passport and had a large sum of cash on him, reported TMZ.
