Piers Morgan then added another message where he asked if he was getting his job back on the ITV morning show. "I’m delighted OFCOM has endorsed my right to disbelieve the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have proven to be untrue. This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios. Do I get my job back?"

Morgan told MailOnline, "I'm delighted that Ofcom has so emphatically supported my right to disbelieve the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's incendiary claims to Oprah Winfrey, many of which have since been proved to be untrue. This is a resounding victory for free speech and a resounding defeat for Princess Pinocchios."

He continued, "I was reliably informed recently that the Duchess of Sussex wrote directly to my ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall the night before I was forced out, demanding my head on a plate."

"Apparently, she stressed that she was writing to Dame Carolyn personally because they were both women and mothers — a nauseating playing of the gender and maternity card if ever there was one. What has the world come to when a whiny fork-tongued actress can dictate who presents a morning television news program?"

An Ofcom spokesperson said of the decision to clear Piers Morgan, "This was a finely-balanced decision. Mr Morgan’s comments were potentially harmful and offensive to viewers, and we recognize the strong public reaction to them. But we also took full account of freedom of expression. Under our rules, broadcasters can include controversial opinions as part of legitimate debate in the public interest, and the strong challenge to Mr Morgan from other contributors provided important context for viewers."

"Nonetheless, we’ve reminded ITV to take greater care around content discussing mental health and suicide in future. ITV might consider the use of timely warnings or signposting of support services to ensure viewers are properly protected."

On social media, fans of Morgan and critics of Meghan are rejoicing. "Correct decision,you have a knack of seeing and calling out liars,and nowadays some people think that if you don’t agree with people it’s a personal issue with malice,it’s not! It’s just straight talking and independent thinking,something severely lacking in today’s world," one user wrote. Another added, " Absolutely correct. Congratulations on holding your nerve against a Duchess who tries to bully people into silence."

Another one of his fans said, "Great news Piers, I hope @GMB are forced to pay you massive compensation, loss of earnings, emotional distress and anything else your lawyers can come up with. Justice is served FINALLY." Yet another wrote, "Brilliant news , thankyou ofcom for not snowflakeing your decision. Well done Mr Morgan you deserved that win. I hope this is a new begining for you, and you also win the NTA award. Days are just not the same without you on GMB I no longer watch it ."
