Return to 'Good Morning Britain'?

A petition on Change.org to bring Morgan back to 'GMB' following his exit in March, was signed by over 55,000 people but was still short of its goal of 75,000. "How ITV have treated Piers Morgan after he saved one of their failing shows is appalling. They have thrown him under the bus and allowed him to be bullied by an (sic) colleague on air. Piers has turned the show into the most talked about show on ITV. He was the only person who spoke on behalf of viewers during the pandemic and now he’s been bullied by the snowflakes all for speaking the truth. BRING PIERS BACK ITV," the description on the petition page read. 

Back in March, soon after calls for his return on 'GMB' gained steam, Morgan said that responded to fans’ pleas on Twitter, writing: “I won’t be going back, but thanks to everyone who has signed these petitions. Normally, people start petitions to have me fired or deported, so this is a pleasant surprise”.

Controversial views

Following his departure from the show, Morgan has refused to apologize for his behavior on air and has instead, doubled down on his comments over his disbelief of Markle’s claims about racism and suicidal thoughts. He has also insisted that he was targeted by the cancel culture.

“Those of you that know me well enough know that, despite my many faults, I’m always willing to stand my ground for the things that I think matter most,” he wrote at the time. “And now I’ve lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologize for disbelieving Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey. I thus became the latest ‘victim’ of the cancel culture that is permeating our country, every minute, of every hour, of everyday,” he said, adding, “Though of course, I consider myself to be neither a victim, nor actually canceled.”

In fact, he told the Sun that even now he believes Harry and Meghan should be stripped of their royal titles for painting themselves as victims of the royal family. “I think they should be stripped of their titles because they’re trashing the institution and causing a lot of damage in the Commonwealth where a lot of the countries are believing this racism crap,” he insisted. “They’ve become the world’s biggest victims in the middle of a pandemic. It’s pathetic. Harry needs to grow up.”
