"Why would they attend the Coronation if they dislike the royal family so much?" the former head of the Conservative Party Iain Duncan Smith asked, according to Daily Mail. "They shouldn’t come to the coronation," said senior Tory David Mellor in agreement. "They categorically shouldn’t come. They make money out of selling their family down the river. I think it should be made clear that the British people do not want them there," he said.

In addition, Mellor said, "If the couple did turn up," people "would be perfectly entitled to boo," adding, "They are a sad pair and there is no hope for them on their current course."

Historian and author Lady Antonia Fraser stated, "I hope they don't come because I want the King and Queen to be the center of attention. It worries me that if they come the cameras might waste time on them. They should stay holding hands in Hollywood."

According to a poll conducted for Daily Mail, almost half of the respondents think the couple should not be allowed to attend the coronation. Additionally, twice as many individuals as those who say they should be allowed to keep their status as Duke of Sussex think Prince Harry should be removed from the succession line and deprived of that title.
