The King and Queen Consort will also not watch the limited series but the royal family is keeping track of the headlines. Prince Harry had hoped that his family would watch the series in order to get a better idea of what he and his wife had to go through. However, royal insiders have avidly dismissed a number of claims made by the Sussexes as "total lies." 

The Duchess of Sussex revealed in the series that she was unprepared for royal life. However, a royal source claims otherwise. "There was prep for everything, walkabouts—even though she was engaged to someone who’d done hundreds of them—clothes, everything. The level of support was intense." The source further told The Sunday Times that Harry’s then private secretary, Ed Lane Fox, known as “Elf,” gave Meghan a 30-point dossier, with a full guide to the royal life she was becoming a part of with advice and experts who could help her.

The source debunked Meghan's claim of being discouraged to bring her niece Ashleigh Hale to the wedding, saying, "I have a very clear memory of her [Meghan] saying that she had a niece who she would in other circumstances have liked to invite, but she didn’t want to invite her because it would have put her under intense scrutiny."

It appears that the part of the docu-series said to have upset Prince William the most was Harry's suggestion that his brother married Kate because she "fits the mould" rather than for love.

Harry said in the documentary, "I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mould as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with. The difference between making decisions with your head, or your heart. And my mum certainly made most of her decisions - if not all of them - from her heart. And I am my mother's son."

A friend of both the brothers told the publication, "That was so cheeky, that’s a love match if ever there was one. Catherine doesn’t even fit the mould—she’s not an earl’s daughter or blue-blooded. The sadness is Harry was so close to Catherine."

The docuseries has surely caused a rift between the royals, however, that did not stop them from preparing Christmas gifts for each other's children as a part of an old royal tradition.
