THE VOICE OF GOD: Chilling 911 call that led police to dead Kansas U soccer star, husband arrested
LAWRENCE, KANSAS: Former Kansas University soccer player Regan Noelle Gibbs was found dead in her Lawrence, Kansas home on Monday night in a suspected act of domestic violence. Although the cause of the death has not been revealed, the victim’s husband, Chad Joseph Marek, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
Authorities said Marek, 26, called 911 and said he killed his wife because “God told him to do it.” Emergency medical workers declared Gibbs, 25, dead at the scene. Marek has been charged with first-degree murder. His bond was set at $1 million when he appeared in Douglas County District Court on May 17. He will be back in court on May 24. The couple were married for less than a year — they had tied the knot in October 2021.
