Rihanna returns to music with 'Lift Me Up' from 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', fans say they 'can't stop crying'

The song opens with the lyrics, “Lift me up/Hold me down/Keep me close /Safe and sound. Burning in a hopeless dream/Hold me when you go to sleep.”

As the song reaches halfway mark, a choir joins Rihanna and makes the song even more hard-hitting. The track is quite simple and that’s the most striking aspect of the song because the ‘Work’ hitmaker, in recent years, is known for her sexy, dancing numbers. However, her voice sounds perfect on the emotional track and delivers a soul-stirring message.

As soon as the song surfaced online, fans flocked to various music streaming platforms to hear the song and as expected, the musician has once again won everyone’s hearts with another beautiful single. One of the fans wrote, “I literally can’t stop crying. #LiftMeUp is so simple yet so powerful and beautiful. Her delivery is unreal. Missed her voice so, so much.” Another social media user wrote, “Lift Me Up. @rihanna is so special and just beautiful. She is showing so much emotion and maturity in this song. Love that for her.”

‘Lift Me Up’ is one of the two songs Rihanna has created for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. The second track, titled ‘Born Again’, will be released in the upcoming weeks.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Ryan Coogler revealed that he and composer Goransson were looking for an artist who could “embody” the movie “thematically” in their music. He didn’t shy away from saying that Rihanna was “at the top” of that list because they knew that the musician was looking forward to doing something different.

He added, “We were taking a different musical approach with the film. Ludwig Göransson, who's our composer, and myself, we were looking to make the film and have actual songs that were incorporated into the score throughout the movie. Rihanna was at the top of that list. We knew she was at a point in her life as well where she was focusing on different things — you know, focusing on business, motherhood, which is a big theme in our film — so we were holding out hope that maybe it could work out and, boy, did it.”

The first ‘Black Panther’ turned out to be a path-breaking project for Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and earned more than $1.35 billion globally and became a cultural phenomenon. Fans are hoping for something similar from the sequel as well. The official synopsis of ‘Wakanda Forever’ reads, “In Marvel Studios 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,' Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.”

The movie had its world premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday night and even though the official review embargo for ‘Wakanda Forever’ lifts November 8, the embargo for social media reactions lifted after the premiere and as expected, Coogler has once again knocked it out of the park.

‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is schedule to hit theatres on Friday, November 11.
