Rolling Stones announced their ranking of the '200 greatest hip-hop albums' and some people are not taking it too kindly. The magazine confirmed and clarified that the list is purely made of English hip-hop records and that it would cover 'every important moment' in hip-hop's evolution. While explaining the formation of the list, they made clear that they went with lesser-known artists and their albums instead of favoring recurring artists with legendary catalogs such as Outcast, and A Tribe Called Conquest.

"One of the incredible things about hip-hop is that it evolves and expands faster than any other genre in music history," said Rolling Stones while announcing the list. They explained that the list consists of artists flourishing in the 80s or 90s such as Rakim, Erc B., etc., and even the superstars Jay-Z, Kanye West, and more. The list also consists of more recent moments like blog-rap, emo-rap, and drill, covering lands from New York, L.A., Houston, Chicago, and more.
