Shane MacGowan’s wife Victoria shares major health update following rocker's hospitalization

Victoria shared the alarming update about her husband's hospitalization on Monday, but didn't reveal why he was admitted and only stated she was "really hoping to get out asap."

The following day, the writer took to Twitter to thank Shane's fans for their kind messages and offered an update on his condition. "I just wanted to thank everyone who has been sending good wishes for @ShaneMacGowan," Victoria wrote. "He is being treated for an infection and the doctors are confident that he will be okay. I am just incredibly grateful to them and to all of you."

Fans of the 'Dirty Old Town' crooner were delighted to hear that he was doing better and thanked his doting wife for the update.

"Thank you for the update Victoria glad to hear Shane's going to be ok let's hope he now makes a speedy recovery and his home for Christmas sending positive energy and healing hugs to both of you," one tweeted. "Thank god for that. I adore Shane's music. I fell it love with it when I was 13 or so... and that has only got stronger through time. Sending positive thoughts..." another offered.

"Great to hear Victoria cause there's only one of him and there'll only ever be one - can't be replaced," someone else gushed. "Cheers to you and Shane from NYC. For more than 35 years he's brought a lot of joy into my life with his music," another added.

Shane's medical scare came just weeks after the legendary frontman joked about "living forever" at a showbiz event for his book. According to The Irish Sun, he has been quite busy in recent weeks following the launch of his first ever book of art entitled 'The Eternal Buzz and the Crock of Gold'. The musician was photographed at a top Dublin restaurant last month, looking dapper in a sharp black suit paired with dark shades and his crucifix necklace. After chef Richard Corrigan said Shane's songs would be played forever, the rockstar quipped, "And I will live forever!”

Several famous Irish figures were present at the official unveiling of Shane's book at the November event. Critics have reportedly described it as “a collection of never-before-seen illustrations, self-portraits, wild impressionist compositions, drawings, school essays, playful character studies, plus 22 unpublished and unseen hand-written lyrics including early versions of Pogues lyrics.” Listed at €1,000 (~$1,048), the book represents six decades of punk and Irish revelry complete with drawings of Bono, Kirsty MacColl, and Grace Jones. Among those attending the launch were actors Patrick Bergin and Peter Coonan, who read a selection of MacGowan’s unpublished lyrics, and the musician Mundy, The Irish Sun reported.
