Comments followed in double-quick time. "Holy that’s f**ked up in so many ways. And the excuse is that their account was “taken over” lmao," one of the tweets read. "They turned off comments and claimed they were hacked. I’ll tell you what happened: someone thought that they were on their personal/joke ig and thought they wouldn’t get caught. I would file a complaint with HUD," another wrote.

". they are now saying someone took over their account, awe poor babys got caught nd dont know how ta make up for it," a comment read. "I wonder how many non-white applicants they turned away to keep their community “pure”," one of the people slammed the site.

"these wolves already stepped out of their sheep skin and now they can't take the heat, so now it's the classic, "I'm a victim" skit," a tweet opined. Some felt the need for stern action. "You have to find out who their managment company is ASAP! I’m a leasing and marketing manager in luxury student housing and this is unacceptable. Make their parent company KNOWN!!"

"Their account was “hacked” and they got their account back SO fast. Bullshit," a tweet remarked. Some felt it was a hack though. "It was obviously a hack. People assume too much too quickly and take action without collecting all the information."

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Soon after, the Coastal Club Student Living shared a post that said “no room for racism and slammed the earlier post. “Early this morning we were made aware that our Instagram account had been surreptitiously taken over and consequently, a hateful post had been placed on our community feed,” the statement read.

 

"Upon seeing it there, our management team worked to remove the post and said persons/peoples access from our account. The post does not represent our team, community or company morals, ethics, mission or values in any way. We would like to extend our deepest apologies to any person that viewed the post on Instagram or any re-post thereafter. We will also be reaching out to the University to make them aware of the situation, as well as turning over any and all information we have to the authorities."

The Daily Dot added that a 2020 report saw the nearly 67% of students at Coastal Carolina University were white, and almost 18% of students were African Americans.
