'Stargirl' to end after Season 3 following major drop in viewership, fans say 'not a big surprise'
DCEU is on a roll whether it is for new beginnings or ending the ones which seemed like a dead end to them and sadly 'Stargirl' airing on CW falls under the latter category. On Monday morning, October 31, it was announced that the DC’s 'Stargirl' series will shut down after its current, 13-episode season. Earlier this month, the Nexstar group took control of The CW, resulting in the exit of longtime CEO Mark Pedowitz and many other modifications as the network navigates toward targeting an older audience. That is not all, the not-so-surprising cancellation which drives in mid-way through the Season 3 of the superhero team-up series is because it has been averaging 660,000 total viewers and a 0.1 demo rating down 25 and 50 percent from its sophomore run.
Along with 'Stargirl,' CW series like 'Nancy Drew' will be entering their final season in 2023, as will 'The Flash' and 'Riverdale.' Regardless, the plot of the third season is the heroes and villains living in Blue Valley become embroiled in a murder mystery after former ISA member Steven Sharpe is found dead, while someone has been spying on them with cameras placed all over town.
