LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The long wait of fans ended when the much-talked-about prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ first episode premiered globally on August 21, 2022, on both HBO and HBO Max. Naturally, when a television show crosses a viewership at that moment the other series fans also go into a war of words commonly witnessed on social media nowadays. The same happened in the case of the highly anticipated ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel. The Westeros saga’s first episode premiere globally has literally surpassed the Duffer Brothers' most iconic and scariest Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 record.

Samba TV’s official tweet for the same dated August 23 was posted by the analytics agency on their Twitter handle. The tweet clearly mentions, “HBO's @HouseofDragon delivered 2.6 million US households tuning into the premiere episode in its initial six hours on both traditional linear TV and streaming. The @GameOfThrones spinoff generated the highest viewership for any premium cable or streaming premiere in 2022.” On the flip side, ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4, which is this year’s most eerie and spooky sci-fi supernatural horror series, garnered almost 1.2 million US households for its fourth season premiere earlier this summer.
