The final two episodes of Season 4 were released recently and were watched over 301.28 million hours in the first three days of their availability. The series claimed the number one position in Netflix’s Top 10 Global list and reached the numero uno position in 90 countries. Overall, the show was in Netflix’s Top 10 in 93 different countries this weekend.

Even after raking in such huge numbers, ‘Stranger Things’ failed to surpass the record set by the Korean series ‘Squid Game’. The K-drama still holds the record of being the most-watched series ever on the streaming platform. The first season amassed 1.65 billion hours in the first 28 days of its release and was seen by more than 142 million households in the first four weeks from launch. With Season 2 of ‘Squid Game’ already announced, fans have already anticipated that it’s going to break the original’s record. Nevertheless, Season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ has surpassed all expectations and broken several viewing records, including the biggest debut weekend for a Netflix series by the streamer’s own metrics. The show recently became the first streaming series to rack up the highest weekly total for any streaming title since the organization began its weekly TV ratings. The series racked up 7.2 billion minutes of streaming from May 30 to June 5.

The fourth season of the sci-fi series saw Vecna getting almost defeated by Eleven and the entire gang. However, it was revealed that the evil leech will return for the fifth and final season. Talking about the final season, the Duffer brothers made it clear that Season 5 won’t be as long as Season 4 and will focus more on the original core group. “We thought Season 4 was going to be eight [episodes], and they were going to be regular length. So if you had interviewed us before four, that's what I would've said. I think we're aiming for eight again. We don't want it to be 13 hours. We're aiming for more like 10 hours or something,” said Matt Duffer.

However, they have made it clear that the final season will be longer than the first one. With Vecna coming in full force, it will be interesting to see how the group gathers and defeat him once and for all.
