Plot
'The Bold Type' is inspired by the life of 'Cosmopolitan' editor-in-chief Joanna Coles and follows three friends - Jane (played by Katie Stevens), Kat (Aisha Dee) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy). The show offers a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for a global women's magazine, Scarlet. Their struggles are about finding one's identity, managing friends and getting their hearts broken, all the while exploring their outrageous lives in New York City and their sexualities, identities, love and fashion.

Katie Stevens as Jane Sloan
Before she starred as Jane Sloan on 'The Bold Type', Stevens was best known for finishing in the eighth place on season 9 of 'American Idol'. She has also starred as Karma Ashcroft in 'Faking It'. As Joan, Stevens plays the role of an aspiring writer at Scarlet Magazine, who lives with her best friend Sutton.
Aisha Dee as Kat Edison
Aisha Dee is best known for her role of Desi Biggins on 'The Saddle Club'. The Australian actress also had a recurring role of Christine on 'Dead Gorgeous'. She is also remembered for her role of Mackenzie Miller in Fox's 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter'. She has also starred in the Syfy horror anthology series 'Channel Zero: No-End House'.
