LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Over the years, viewers of Lorne Michaels and NBC's 'Saturday Night Live' have grown accustomed to surprising guest stars making an appearance in the middle of the episode. For the third time in his career, Dave Chappelle hosted the post-election Saturday Night Live episode. Alongside Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings and Ice-T reprised their respective roles from the 'The Playa Haters' Ball'. In keeping with his return to the hits, Chappelle also made an appearance as Rick James. The episode was not only provocative and thought-provoking but possibly the strongest of the season yet.

According to the AV Club, Chappelle's pick as host was controversial thanks to his remarks against transgenders during his contentious Netflix special 'The Closer'. Chappelle even found himself the victim of an assault while performing on stage at a Netflix event at the Hollywood Bowl. This week, 'SNL' has also drawn a lot of attention owing to rumors that writers would boycott the episode. There are claims that certain cast members were disgruntled by Chappelle's involvement in the program.
